As the world of drag racing evolves and racers push the limits of performance, SFI was approached by several of its sanctioning body members and asked to develop a minimum roll cage specification for fast, heavy drag race vehicles. These vehicles can run the quarter mile at low 8.00-second E.T.’s and weigh up to 5,000 Lbs. This new spec builds off of existing SFI roll cages for full-bodied cars, but is upgraded with larger tubing and additional support braces as is appropriate for vehicles of this mass racing at these speeds. This new spec applies to such classes as Diesel Powered Pro Street Trucks, for example. The SFI 25.6 chassis spec book containing all minimum build requirements for this roll cage is available here: https://sfifoundation.com/drag-racing-chassis/
