March 28, 2013 – Several SFI Specifications have recently been revised. A quick summary of what changed in each spec is below. The complete specs may be viewed and downloaded on our Spec List page: SFI Specification List.

SFI 3.2A Driver Suits: Changed Definitions to clarify that embroidered logos are permitted and do not inadvertently affect the performance or rating of the garment. Changed Construction paragraph to require that all material layers in a driver suit must fully extend all the way to all seams. The shortening of any layer prior to the seam is not permitted.

SFI 4.1 Automatic Transmission Shield: Minor changes to definitions to include internal shields that are currently in the program.

SFI 24.1 Youth Helmets and SFI 41.1 Motorsports Helmets: Changed to include anchors for SFI 38.1 Head and Neck Restraint Device anchor hardware.

SFI 31.1 Flame Resistant Motorsports Helmets: Changed to include SFI 38.1 Head and Neck Restraint Device anchor hardware with performance (testing) requirements.

SFI 39.1 Stock Car Type Racing Seat (Custom) and SFI 39.2 Stock Car Type Racing Seat (Standard): Removed 2nd allowable load push, and replaced with a momentary conditioning push of 50% of the test force.

SFI 45.2 Impact Padding: Impact velocities have been changed from minimums to specified velocities.
